A note from a client…

"This letter is to truly, truly thank the staff at Shalom House. I recently was a resident at Shalom House. I have gone through a lot of heartache and pain, thinking that there was no light at the end of the tunnel and no one to talk to. I have a lot of thoughts running through my head that made me fall into a state of depression, and just when I was about to run from my problems again, I felt tired and wanted to stand up and fight. Coming here to Shalom House gave me a breath of fresh air, the staff and environment were very friendly, loving and caring. They gave me the one thing that I needed – my self-esteem. I really appreciate all the things that you at Shalom House have done and given me. I just can't thank you enough. ?"

Ways to Get Involved

There's so many little things that can make a big difference. Here are some ways you can help make a difference in the lives we touch at Shalom House.

Volunteer

If you would like to make a more direct impact to help us put women back on the path to self-sufficiency, there are several opportunities to help, including but not limited to:

  • Mentoring women
  • Answering the shelter phone and front door
  • Conducting life skills classes
  • Helping with special projects
  • Serve on the Board of Directors
  • Provide accounting services

Volunteers share their time and talents in support of the mission by helping with the quarterly newsletter, sharing their skills with marketing & public relations, social networking, participating in special events (walks, theater, holiday event, golf outing, and others), helping to build relationships with new and existing sponsors, assisting with in-kind donations and more.
