Who we are...

Shalom House provides temporary shelter for women and children who have nowhere else to go. We provide for their basic needs: a bed, food, clothing, health and hygiene supplies, and a temporary address and telephone number.

Shalom House is committed to emergency sheltering for homeless women and children, transitional housing for homeless women veterans and their children, and permanent housing for disabled, chronically homeless low-income women.

Shalom House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. A copy of the official registration and financial information may be obtained from the PA Dept. of State by calling 1.800.732.0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.

Touching lives in so many ways...

Hello,
I am a teacher at Linglestown Middle School, Harrisburg, PA and Krista Smith and I taught a unit based on Terry Fox's Marathon of hope that raises money for cancer. We showed our 6th grade "Fit 4 Life" students an ESPN video on Terry's run in 1980. We asked students to complete an assignment that required them to research a charitable organization that we could raise money and donate to. All the students did a great job writing their reports.

There was one boy who did his report on the Shalom House that really touched us. He wrote how when his mother, sister and himself had no where to go, Shalom House took them in for a brief stay until they got back on their feet.

Our students raised $830.50 for the Shalom House.

SHARP for Homeless Female Veterans
