Harrisburg, PA – Shalom House, an emergency shelter for women and children facing homelessness, is proud to announce the launch of its new Adopt-A-Room program, designed to directly impact the lives of its residents by providing a welcoming, safe, and comfortable living environment during their most challenging times. The program was officially introduced at the Shalom House Open House event on August 24, 2024, and has already seen its first room sponsored by a generous private individual.
The Adopt-A-Room program offers individuals, organizations, and corporate sponsors a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference by sponsoring one of Shalom House’s 10 resident rooms or a common area. Sponsorship ensures that each space is well-maintained, creating a nurturing environment where women and children can focus on overcoming the barriers they face and working toward self-sufficiency.

Shalom House serves women and children by meeting their basic needs, including providing a bed, three meals a day, clothing, hygiene supplies, and access to essential amenities. Case management services and additional resources are available to help families achieve self-sufficiency and break the cycle of homelessness.
With an average occupancy rate of 95%, the rooms and common areas at Shalom House experience significant wear and tear. The Adopt-A-Room program will help ensure that these spaces remain in excellent condition, providing fresh linens, updated furniture, essential appliances, and a caring atmosphere for residents.
